10:18 Minsk accuses Russian company of oil leak
Minsk has accused the Russian company Zapadnefteprodukt of leaking fuel in the northeastern Vicebsk region of Belarus. According to Vasil Chekan, who heads the regional department of the Ministry for Emergencies, an ad hoc commission will be set up to calculate the losses caused by the pipeline accident.
On March 23, around 100 cubic meters of diesel were leaked from the pipe, with part of the fuel getting into the River Ula, which enters the Zahodniaja Dzvina River, and floating further towards Latvia. On March 26 the diesel slicks crossed the Belarus-Latvian border. The Belarus emergency official said that "those responsible should cover all the losses", reports Interfax.
