16 people including a Pole and an Estonian have asked for asylum in Belarus this year
16 people have asked for political asylum in Belarus this year. Seven of them came from Afghanistan. Refugees from Namibia, Azerbaijan, the Congo, Poland and Estonia also asked for asylum in our country.
The head of the department of international cooperation of the State Border Committee Yury Fyodarau has informed about it, reports the “Minsk-News” agency.
Refugees make up only a few percent of the people who cross our border illegally.
A thorough investigation is conducted for everyone asking for asylum in Belarus. Thus, 3 thousand 200 people asked for the status of refugees over the last decade in Belarus. However, only 802 got it.
