755 fisherman are evacuated from ice-floe near Sakhalin

The operation of evacuation of 755 fishermen who were stuck on an ice-floe in Mordvinov gulf near Sakhalin has ended successfully.

334 people were evacuated with the help of a Mi-8 helicopter, 121 fishermen were saved in boats and 300 people were transported to the coast on other ice-floes. According to RIA “Novosti”, 30 rescuers and 15 pieces of technical equipment were engaged in the operation.

Now a helicopter of the Emergency Control Ministry is flying over the region to make sure that everyone was saved.
