7th international “Fife Festival” to take place in Minsk on April 24-27
An international “Fife Festival” will take place in Minsk from April 24 till April 27. Musicians from Bulgaria, Belarus, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Ukraine will participate in it.
Musicians from New Zealand and Estonia will join in for the first time, negotiations about the participation of the “Fidelius” band (Germany) are in process. The number of girls participating in the festival will increase from one to four. Concerts, an international conference “Preserving the fife tradition in Belarus and the Baltic Region of Europe” and a soiree of the Fife Club are included in the programme of the festival. A collection of reports from the conference, records of the festival and a video “Fife Festival 1991-2008” are planned to be out after the festival.
The originality of the festival is the participation of children learning to play the fife noted the action’s producer Zmitser Sasnouski.
