All-Belarusian People’s Congress to take place in Minsk on December 6, 7
The 4th All-Belarusian People’s Congress will take place in Minsk on December 6 and 7, 2010. Alyaksandr Lukashenka signed the corresponding order on October 13. The results of the Programme of Social and Economic Development in 2006-2010 will be discussed there. Participants of the congress are also going to discuss the next five-year plan. The number of participants of the congress is also indicated in the order – 2.5 thousand people. The most important organization actions aimed at the preparation and conducting of the congress are listed there. The 1st All-Belarusian People’s Congress took place on October 19-20, 1996, a month before the referendum that increased Lukashenka’s power. The second one took place on May 18, 2001, four months before the presidential election and the third one – on March 2 and 3, 2006 – two weeks before the presidential election.
This year’s election will take place on December 19.
