Artist Ales Marachkin is sentenced to 5 days of arrest

The trial of the head of the Association of Belarusians of the world “Motherland”, artist Ales Marachkin, took place in the Central District Court of Minsk on Tuesday morning. He was sentenced to 5 days of detention. The head of the administration of “Motherland” Alena Makouskaya told ERB what Marachnkin had been punished for:

"The lawyer says he was accused according to art. 17-1, they said he had been using bad language not far from the Central District Department of the Interior. However, it was evident that he had been arrested in his studio. So there is a discrepancy. Relatives say that he is suffering from bronchitis. He kept coughing but he was trying to recover on his own at home”.

Let us remind you that Ales Marachkin was detained yesterday evening. Special police troops rushed into his studio and took away the transparencies that had been made for the festive manifestation dated for the Day of Will. Marachkin spent the night in Akrestsina Street.

Now the artist is in the Akrestsina prison again, he is serving his sentence. Relatives are trying to send him warm clothes.
