Belarus looses world ice hockey championship bid
Belarus has lost its bid for hosting the 2013 World Ice Hockey Championship. According to the vote by the International Ice Hockey Federation, Sweden will host this competition. Belarus competed with the Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia and Sweden. Latvia withdrew on the eve of the vote for the sake of Sweden, which received 70 percent of the votes. Belarus got 15 percent; Hungary (8 percent), the Czechs (3 percent).
The Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation said earlier that it would repeat a bid for the 2014 championship in case of the failure for 2013.
