Belarus, Russia expected to reach gas price deal
The meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Belarus-Russia union state is to take place in Moscow today. On Thursday, Belarusian PM Siarhei Sidorski arrived in the Russian capital and met Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov and Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin. Today, Sidorski will hold talks with Russian PM Vladimir Putin.
The union's council of ministers is expected to approve a plan of joint actions to overcome the financial crisis. The sides will also discuss customs control at the external borders of the union state.
The price of the Russian gas for Belarus in 2009 could also be revealed after the meeting.
The Belapan news agency reports that the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State is to take place on February 3 in Moscow.
