Belarus set to buy new jet fighters, S-400 air defense missiles from Russia
Belarus looks in the perspective to purchase S-400 surface-to-air missile complexes from Russia, Interfax quotes Belarus's defense minister Leanid Maltsaw as saying.
He described this state-of-the-art air defense complex as the one capable of destroying both the enemy's aircraft and missiles. This would help significantly to boost up Belarus's air defense and missile shield capabilities, Maltsaw believes.
Belarus is also interested in the latest Russia-made jet fighters, which will be purchased within several years. "By the moment of the transaction, those will be the most modern machines. We don't need old scrap," Belarus defense minister noted.
