Belarusian Language Association and Ministry of Culture expect Council of Ministers to announce a year of Belarusian language and culture
The Ministry of Culture supported the initiative of the Belarusian Language Association to annonce 2011 a year of Belarusian language and culture. The Chairman of the BLA Aleh Trusau informed ERB about it. According to him, the Belarusian Language Association came up with such an initiative for the third year, but two previous attempts were declined.
Trusau: "I am very pleased that the Ministry of Culture supported our initiative, however, it is still unknown whether the others will do the same. In case the initiative is approved, there will be a correspondent President's decree, they will grant some finance for cultural events connected with language and culture - that's the usual practice. That means, our language will have some financial support. We would really wish that".
Besides, all the bills will be prepared in two languages - Belarusian and Russian - since next year. This was informed by the Deputy Head of the National Center of Legislation and Legal Research Liudmila Panfiorava.
