Belarusians are waiting for information about victims of Stalin’s repressions
Belarusian civil activists are asking Russian human rights defenders to present information about their compatriots who died in GULAG. Letters have been sent to Moscow, Sverdlov Region and Korelia.
They were signed by members of the Civil Committee of Commemoration of victims of Stalin’s repressions - academician Radzim Haretski, historians Ihar Kuznyatsou and Anatol Valahovich, writers Vasil Yakavenka and Alena Kobets-Filimonava.
They note that taking into account the number of Belarusians deported to Polar Regions of Russia and to Siberia, the number of victims of Stalin’s repressions exceeded 1.5 million people in Belarus.
