Christmas solidarity action near Akrestsina prison ends with detentions in Minsk

Over a dozen of people today came at 1900 to the pre-trial detention center in Minsk. The lit candles and sang Chritmas songs and prayers in order to support those detained during and after protest actions on December 19-20 in Minsk and to send them their Christmas greetings.

The police in plain clothes warned the action was not authorized and urged them to break up.

When participants of the action began breaking up indeed, a police truck stopped by, while plainclothes agents arrested some 5 people.

It is yet to be known where the detainees were taken and whether they are charged, reports Belapan.

The names of two detainees: Volha Damarad and Mikhal Matskevich. Ales Kirkevich was likely detained, too.
