Day of Solidarity with families of political prisoners and missing politicians to be marked today
Politician Viktar Hanchar and entrepreneur Anatol Krasouski disappeared without leaving a trace on this very day 11 years ago.
They both went out of the public baths building in Minsk in the evening on September 16, got into a car... No one has ever seen them again.
There have been several other mysterious disappearances and deaths of politicians in Belarus. On May 7, 1999 the former Minister of Internal Affairs of Belarus, General Jury Zakharanka disappeared from the yard of his own house in unclear circumstances. Teleoperator Zmitser Zavadzki mysteriously disappeared on July 7, 200 on the way to Minsk airport. The former speaker of the Supreme Council Henadz Karpenka died unexpectedly on April 6, 1999.

A book "We remember..." is published in Belarus to coincide with the 11th anniversary of disappearance of the regime's opponents. This book contains memories of friends, families and close people of those who disappeared in Belarus, as well as of Henadz Karpenka, deceased in unexplained circumstances. The book is published in 3 languages - Belarusian, Russian and English.
