Defense ministry official arrested on embezzlement charges

A Defense Ministry official is suspected of attempting to embezzle $200,000. The Belarusian military prosecutor's office has opened yet another high-profile criminal case.  In 2007, a Belarus Army Colonel overpaid Br 40 million when purchasing ties for the Belarusian armed forces. Investigators are also interrogating a Colonel from the catering department at the Defense Ministry. He is facing up to 12 years in prison.
