European Parliament cancels visit to Minsk
The European Parliament has cancelled its visit to Minsk appointed for April 6-8.
A Dutch parliamentarian, vice-chair of the Party of European Socialists Jan Marinus Wiersma, has informed that the Belarusian authorities have not agreed to the suggested format of the visit.
European parliamentarians had been going to organize a number of meetings with officials, the opposition and representatives of the civil community alongside with an unofficial meeting with deputies of the Belarusian Parliament.
The European deputy regretted that the visit had been cancelled. He appealed to the Belarusian Embassy to Brussels and asked “to reconsider the decision and study the programme of the visit attentively” last week.
