Festival “Rock-Wheel” forbidden in Polatsk may take place in Smolensk
The director of the festival Syarhei Anishchanka who is going to meet the Mayor of the Russian city on March 1 informed ERB about it.
“I will be in Smolensk on March 1. Smolensk has suggested organizing “Rock-Wheel”. However, nothing is clear at the moment. There is another good piece of news. Syarhei Zhdanovich, a pop producer, has suggested conducting the festival in Lahoisk and is going to cover most of the expenses”. Anishchanka noted that Smolensk authorities suggested that Belarusian, Russian and Ukrainian bands should take part in the festival.
Moreover, Smolensk should be announced a Belarusian city for the time of the festival to remind people that it used to be part of our country and was even considered the Belarusian capital for some time.
Let us remind you that the last “Rock-Wheel” festival took place in Polatsk on October 26-27, 2007. After that the city authorities decided to forbid the festival because it was “far from the historical and cultural heritage of Polatsk and the Orthodox religion”.
