Former NHL star turns down offer to coach Belarus hockey team

Igor Larionov, legendary Soviet and Russian hockey player and a former NHL star, has admitted he was approached with an offer to work as an assistant coach for Team Belarus during the winter Olympic Games in Canada. "I received a call from Belarus and offered to become an assistant coach for the national team. But I politely refused. In order to work with a team during such a short-termed tournament, you have to know players, their performance and their style of play very well which I don't. All I could do is to have made some recommendations for candidates for this position".
