Hotel Europe denies venue to opposition candidate Ramanchuk
Yaraslau Ramanchuk, a potential presidential candidate from the opposition United Civil Party, was denied a venue at Hotel Europe in Minsk where he planned on August 25 to unveil his presidential platform. Acording to the politician, the hotel staff made it understand they had been ordered 'from the above'.
Despite this, Ramanchuk is not to change plans and to put off his presentation for another date.
Ramanchuk: “We are still searching. We will see. Perhaps, other people will agree. We have eyed 5 different venues. I don't think all the venues will keep their doors shut”.
Different from the One Million Jobs program written on 40 pages, the draft presidential platform is on two pages. It includes both the social economic issues and the issue of values and the role of the state in helping an individual.
