Jauhen Jakavenka once again demands Military Enlistment Office should give him a summon in Belarusian
The coordinator of creating of the BCD Party in Homel Jauhen Jakavenka demands a summon in Belarusian from the Military Enlistment Office once again, informs BelaPAN. Previously, when Jakavenka demanded they should communicate with him in the Belarusian language and send him summons in Belarusian, he was sentenced to a year of restriction of freedom for avoiding the military draft procedures. On July 23 the regional court left the decision of the court of first instance in force, but implemented the Law on Amnesty with regard to Jakavenka, thus, the record of conviction was cleared. The activist does not admit guilt. He claims he only insisted they should implement his constitutional right for correspondence in his native language.
As it was informed by Jauhen Jakavenka to BelaPAN, he had been called to the Military Enlistment Office for medical examination again. When he arrived there on September 15 he demanded a Belarusian-language summon. The Military Enlistment Office refused again. They explained the refusal by the fact that all correspondence was held in Russian, so they needed new forms, not only those of summons, but of other documents as well. The doctors had problems with filling forms in Belarusian.
Jauhen Jakavenka intends to file a complaint at the staff of the Military Enlistment Office to the Ministry of Defense.
