Mikita Sasim kidnapped, 2 admitted to hospital on Solidarity Day

Youth activist Mikita Sasim was kidnapped after the opposition-staged Solidarity Day event on August 16 near the Moscow cinema theater. Around 2130 a car with plate number 9215 ЕЕ-7 drove to the cinema and two plainclothes men jumped out of the vehicle. Activists with the Jeans movement said they believed the plainclothes men were undercover security agents.

They grabbed Sasim and had several other activists that stood up to defend their friend beaten. Tastiana Tysjkevich and Pavel Pashkevich were admitted to the city's hospital No 9.  The whereabouts of Mikita Sasim are unknown.

The Central District Police Department has not confirmed the detention of the young activist.

The Solidarity Day action that traditionally takes place on the 16th day of every month was held in Minsk near the St. Joseph Cathedral, which the local government wants to redevelop into a posh hotel.
