Milinkevich to field 5000 volunteers to gather signatures?

The leadership of the Movement for Freedom plans to deploy 5000 activists to gather signatures for nominating Alexander Milinkevich as a presidential contender. Movement's deputy chairman Yuras Hubarevich told Radio Svaboda the nomination group would be formed in three stages. The first stage is almost finishing, according to Hubarevich. During the first stage, activists in regions wrote statements that they agreed to be part of the nomination group and filled in an application form. There are over 1000 applications.

During the second stage, Milinkevich's group plans to work on building an electoral bloc. It will unite the organizations that wish to participate in Alexander Milinkevich's campaign.

During the third stage, there will be a call to a wider society base that supports Milinkevich, asking to join. Thus, by the time the nomination documents are to be filed with the Central Electoral Commission, 5000-6000 activists will be recruited.
