About 100 representatives of the law-enforcement bodies and about 10 citizens were injured during the events which took place at the Independence Square in Minsk on December 19. The first deputy head of the law enforcement administration of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs Aliaksandr Barsukou has said this answering the question of the CEC Chairperson Lidzia Yarmoshyna in a talk-show "Open Format" on air on ONT TV-Channel on January 31. BelaPAN has informed about this. According to him, the representatives of the law-enforcement bodies were injured by "those rods, ice-axes and other instruments". "On the other side, about 10 citizens were injured. Moreover, I do not exclude the possibility that they got cuts when they broke the glass in the House of Government or knocked over when they ran away from the police", — Barsukou has said.
When the host asked whether the information about detention of people who had been just waiting for the city traffic in the area, or walked by the Square, was true, Barsukou answered: "If a law-abiding citizen happans to be there, he will, naturally, just walk off. I think there could not possibly be any accidental people".
