Opposition activist finds more than 100 mistakes in military registration and enlistment office questionnaire (photo)
An opposition activist Pavel Batuyeu demanded a Belarusian questionnaire in Salihorsk military registration and enlistment office. He found more than 100 mistakes in the presented document. The opposition member refused to fill in the Russian form – he said that it was his principle. Pavel Batuyeu said that the Belarusian language of the questionnaire had surprised him in an interview with ERB:
Batueu: I did fill it in, but I had corrected all the mistakes. I gave it to a teacher of Belarusian so that she would cross the mistakes out in red ink.
By the way, Batuyeu had to demand a Belarusian form. The military registration and enlistment office claimed that Russian questionnaires had arrived from the Ministry of Defense.
When ERB turned to the Ministry of Defense, they said they had nothing to do with activities of military registration and enlistment offices:
Press service of Ministry of Defense: You do not seem to know the legislation. The Ministry of Defense does not draft anyone. It is done by military registration and enlistment offices organized by local authorities. The Ministry of Defense only provides citizens with the opportunity to fulfill their constitutional duty and sanctity. That’s it.
Commenting on the information, P.Batuyeu noted that he had been going to suggest the Ministry that they should print questionnaires in Belarusian. However, he thinks that officials have started laying the blame on one another so he would send an additional inquiry to Salihorsk military registration and enlistment office.
