Opposition has a favourable view of Radosław Sikorski's and Guido Westerwelle's visits

The opposition presidential contenders have a favourable view of the visits of  Radosław Sikorski and Guido Westerwelle to Belarus. The meeting between the potential presidential candidates of the democratic forces and the Foreign Ministers of Poland and Germany took place in the evening of November 2. Andrej Sannikau, Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu, Jaraslau Ramanchuk, Ryhor Kastusyou, Ales Mikhalevich, Mikalaj Statkevich and Vital Rymasheuski participated in the meeting. Aliaksandr Milinkevich was also present.

As it was stated by Andrej Sannikau in the interview to BelaPAN , the meeting between the opposition politicians and the European foreign ministers was "in fact a very important one". "They have confirmed that Europe will watch the electoral standards in order they be transparent and fair. Moreover, Sikorski has claimed Europe will support a democratically elected President of Belarus", — said Sannikau.

Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu estimated the results of the meeting in a similar way. According to him, presidential contenders "have been assured that in case a democratic President comes to power in Belarus the country will receive privileges". These will be the privileges concerning the economic life of the country, in the first place.

Vital Rymasheuski  pointed out that both Sikorski and Westerwelle had promised to watch so that the presidential elections in Belarus met the international standards.
