Participants of entrepreneurs’ action in Minsk stand trial today

Trials of participants of the protest action organized by private entrepreneurs yesterday will take place in the capital today. About 20 people including minors were detained.
Some of the action’s participants were beaten. Radio Liberty reports that a pupil Artur Katsuh was taken to hospital from the police office.

The leader of a civil association “Perspectyva” Anatol Shumchanka, the head of the United Civil Party Anatol Lyabedzka, Yan Mihailau, Alyaksandr Charnyshou and some other people will stand trial in Maskouski District Court of Minsk. The police refuse to reveal the names of the other people.

Students Alyaksandr Barazenka, Pavel Vinahradau and some other people will stand trial in Central District Court.

Let us remind you that about 5 thousand people took part in the yesterday’s protest action against the authorities’ policy concerning small-scale business.

At first they gathered at Kastrychnitskaya Square and then they blocked Independence Avenue opposite the House of the Government but the crowd was dispersed by special police troops. The majority of the detained are young students who joined the entrepreneurs’ action.
