Philip Gordon: USA will forbid to have business with "Belnaftahim"

The US have an intention to implement new sanctions on Belarus due to harassment of the opposition activists after the presidential election in December, svobodanews informs.

The assistant secretary of state for Europe and Eurasian affairs Philip Gordon has informed this at the Senate hearings on Thursday.


According to him, the sanctions will include prohibition to have business with the Belarusian concern "Belnaftahim" for all the American companies, as well as expanding of the list of Belarusian officials, banned from entering the USA, and a series of financial limitations. 

It is also planned to increase the volume of financial aid rendered to Belarusian non-governmental organizations by 3 million dollars. 

The Chairperson of these hearings Senator Jeanne Shaheen has said that "the committee fully supports the Secretary of State Clinton and calls on Lukashenka's regime to release all the political prisoners immediately and unconditionally. Belarusian people have a right to express their will freely and without fear",- informs Charter-97.
