Pipeline leak in Homel region to be eliminated within 10 days

The affects of the dieasel spill from a pipeline in the Rechytsa district, Homel region will be eliminated within 10 days, said officials from the local natural resources and environmental agency. The government said the leaked fuel was prevented from entering River Dnepr.

The Russian company Zapadtransnefteprodukt, the owner of the pipeline, is required to clean up the soil and water in the area of the accident. It should be done before the spring floods, reports the official news agency BELTA.

The television company ONT said the accident was caused by a crack in the pipeline. Allegedly, it appeared due to a mistake of the Soviet builders that laid the pipeline in 1960s.
