Polish minority leader writes proposals over conflict in Poles' Union

Anzhalika Borys, the leader of the unregistered Union of Poles in Belarus, is preparing written proposals to the Committee on Religions and Nationalities at the Council of Ministers over the resolution of a conflict within the union. According to Uladzimir Lameka, a deputy commissioner for religions and nationalities, her proposals would be taken into account by government agencies.  The pro-government Union of Poles in Belarus is set to elect a new leader in September, the current chairman Josef Luchnik said in a statement. Several hundreds of Anzhalika Borys's union supporters were denied access to the meeting of the official union council's meeting on Saturday.

The 7th congress of the official Union of Poles will take place on September 12. Josef Luchnik also said that Anzhalika Borys would not be invited to attend the congress, because she is not a member of the Union of Poles in Belarus. District organizations of the official union are expected to nominate candidates for the post of the new union's chairman.
