BCD member Vadzim Kabanchuk detained at Lithuanian border
The trial will take place in Ashmyany on February 14, but Kabanchuk’s lawyer will not be able to attend it.
A former political prisoner Vadzim Kabanchuk, member of the BCD and of Vital Ramanchuk’s initiative group, was detained at the Belarusian-Lithuanian border on his way home on Sunday evening.
Customs officials did not like the contents of the newspapers they found on him. Kabanchuk had spent more than four hours at the border until the police arrived from Ashmyany. Vadzim was delivered to Ashmyany District department of the Interior where a report about his disobedience to the police was drawn up. They tried to make him sign the report.
The hearing will take place in Ashmyany on February 14 although Kabanchuk’s lawyer will not be able to attend it. Kabanchuk thinks that they would like to imprison him for at least a day, informs the BCD press service.
