Ex-political prisoner Vasil Parfyankou to stand trial today
He is facing 6 months of detention, 18 month of imprisonment or he may be put on probation.
The fact that a criminal case was started against Parfyankou became known in April. He was accused of violating “the preventive supervision regime”.
Let us remind you that Vasil Parfyankou was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment because of Dec.19 case. He was released with a group of other political prisoners in August 2011. He was put under “preventive supervision” at the beginning of 2012 when he was arrested for taking part in an action of solidarity.
"The preventive supervision” involves certain restrictions. Firstly, Parfyankou had to visits the local Department of the Interior four times a month. Secondly, he was forbidden to leave his flat from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. unless it was required at his work. Thirdly, he was forbidden to leave the city for personal purposes without asking the local department of the Interior for permission.
Vasil Parfyankou admits that he has violated the regime thrice.
The hearing of the criminal case will start in Minsk Pershamaiski District Court on Tuesday, May 29, at 10 a.m.
