Homel inhabitants celebrate Kupala (photo)
The celebration was organized near Halch village in Vetka Distrcit, on the bank of the Sozh – near an ancient pagan temple.
Members and amateurs of Homel “Talaka” celebrated Kupala last night. More than 30 people gathered for the event. The majority of songs, dances and games were performed to the Belarusian pipe.

A pillar was installed in the bonfire. A wheel with a cross made of grass and willow branches were attached to it. The wheel symbolizes the Sun. If the pillar falls down on one of the present after it burns down, it will mean that the person will never get married. Everyone was lucky - the pillar did not fall on anyone.

“Talaka” members held a traditional ceremony that can be called “Harrow”. The guys were harnessed to the harrow and walked liked that. The girls kept singing jocular songs.

The girls put their wreaths on the water before swimming in the morning.
