UN accuses Belarus of illegal arms trade with Côte d'Ivoire

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has accused Belarus of illegal attack helicopter trade with Côte d'Ivoire. RIA “Novosti” has informed about it this Monday referring to the Associated Press. According to the UN, Minsk has violated the sanctions imposed by the international organization in 2004 and has supplied three attack helicopters to the armed groups supporting Laurent Gbagbo, the country’s President not recognized by the world community. According to the office of head of the Secretariat of the United Nations, the first helicopter and some “corresponding materials” were probably delivered to the capital of the African state on Monday night. A few more planes are supposed to arrive on Tuesday. Ban Ki-moon’s office has informed that arms trade with the forces supporting Gbagbo is “a serious violation of the embargo imposed on Côte d'Ivoire”.
