Russian Minister of Agriculture suggests suspension of allocation of credits to Belarus
The Russian Minister of Agriculture Alexei Gordeyev has suggested that the economic assistance to Belarus should be suspended. At least until the agricultural polices of the two countries are synchronized. He reminded that Russia and Belarus had signed a 5-year production and consumption balances for the main products including agricultural ones. According to the Minister, the assistance may be resumed when the level of support of agricultural producers and the security level are the same.
Russian producers claim that they are unable to compete with cheaper Belarusian dairy products from Belarus because there are subsidized there. At the same time, only a few Russian regions subsidize the production and it is done at a lower level.
A.Gordeyev has claimed that Russians should not suffer and engage in trade wars only because Lukashenka loves his agricultural industry more.
