Sannikau and Nyaklyayeu to meet electors in Minsk Freedom Square

Presidential candidates Andrei Sannikau and Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu will meet electors in Minsk on the Day of Solidarity traditionally celebrated on the 16th day of every month. The meeting will take place in Freedom Square at 6 p.m. Let us remind you that actions of solidarity with the families of missing politicians and political prisoners have been organized every month in Belarus for 5 years. The first action was dated for the 6th anniversary of the abduction of Anatol Krasouski and Victar Hanchar, says a representative of “Charter-97” Alyaksandr Atroshchankau:

"The first Solidarity Day was marked in October 2005, a month after an action dedicated to the abducted and murdered Victar Hanchar and Anatol Krasouski had been severely dispersed. Now it is organized on the 16th day of every month”.

Solidarity actions take place in Belarus, many European countries, the USA and even Australia. People holding the portraits of political prisoners and missing people appear in city streets. They have been dispersed, beaten and detained many times.

The actions were conducted in different ways, for example, people could light candles in their windows on the 16th day. Presidential candidates met electors in the Belarusian capital during the last few Days of Solidarity.
