Speeding car kills woman in central Minsk (pictures)
A tragic traffic accident occurred on May 25 at the crossing of Surganava and Kujbyshava Streets near the Riga supermarket. Approximately at 0730, a high-speeding VW Passat tried to avoid collision with Audi-100 and broke down a traffic lights pole.
A 50-year-old woman that was standing on the safety island near the lights was hit by the car. She later died in a local hospital, the traffic police authority told the European Radio for Belarus.
The VW Passat's driver sustained minor injuries. According to newspaper Salidarnasc, the VW Passat belongs to a government agency. Police is investigating the accident.
