Sviatlana Kalinkina is threatened with outrage (photo)
The Deputy Chief Editor of the newspaper "Narodnaya Volya" Sviatlana Kalinkina received an anonymous postcard with threats. As Sviatlana Kalinkina told in her interview to the European Radio for Belarus, somebody had thrown a postcard with threats into her mailbox on Sunday. Unknown authors used the postcard of the campaign "Tell the Truth".
Kalinkina: "When I opened the mailbox I saw a "Tell the Truth" postcard, with threats on it, like if another material of the kind appears I am, to put it mildly, finished. That they started a war. They did not clarify which material they meant, but it was obvious that the postcard was thrown into my mailbox after publishing of my material "The Loop" on Saturday night.".
In the article "The Loop", published on the web-site "Belarusian Partisan", Kalinkina analyzed who could stand behind the death of the Charter'97 journalist Aleh Biabenin. To her opinion, it were Belarusian authoritative structures.
Kalinkina has not yet decided whether she will file a claim to the Public Prosecution with regard to these anonymous threats, as she sees no big sense in it.
Kalinkina: "I would like to talk to Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu in this regard. Frankly speaking, I'm afraid my claim would in the end damage the reputation of the campaign "Tell the Truth" as it was their postcard... However, I don't see big sense in filing claims as they never found anyone".
