Uladzimir Arlou nominated for European Freedom's Poet award

Belarusian writer and poet Uladzimir Arlou has been nominated for the European Freedom's Poet award, writes Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza.  The list of short-listed candidates, announced on May 16, includes representatives of Cyprus, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and France. Belarus will be represented by Uladzimir Arlou's book of poems titled "The Ferry across La Manche".

The Euro 30,000-worth prize was founded and is sponsored by the Polish city of Gdansk. The winner will be announced during an internationa literature festival in 2010, reports Nasha Niva.
