Iranian student Khatereh Khodadadi, who was detained in Minsk over comments about Iran posted on Telegram, has been deported from Belarus. However, she was sent to Armenia rather than back to Iran. Belarus has also barred her from entering the country for 30 years — until the end of April 2056, Khodadadi told Euroradio.
Khodadadi had been studying dentistry in Belarus. She was detained in April over comments about Iran that she posted on Telegram.
She was initially sentenced to 14 days of administrative detention. After serving the sentence, however, she was not released and was instead deported.
Khodadadi also rejects claims that state propagandists visited the detention center while she was being held there and filmed a report about her. No such report was ever shown on Belarusian state television, she said.
Earlier reports said that Khodadadi was detained in Minsk after the Iranian Embassy in Belarus allegedly intervened over her comments on the U.S. operation in Iran.
