1863 anti-Russian uprising leader commemorated in Vilnius
The Belarusian diaspora in Vilnius, Lithuania staged an action titled "Last Words" devoted to the death anniversary of Kastus Kalinouski, the leader of the 1863 anti-Russian uprising. He was hung by the Russian authorities on March 22 on a Vilnius square. The event finalized the campaign titled "Eternal Memory to Kalinouski" staged by the students of the European Humanities University and the local Belarusians.
During a requiem action, staged under the white-red-white flags, Kalinouski's Letters from under the Gallows were read. The action participants also sang Belarusian national spiritual anthem "Mighty God".
Afterwards, action participants proceeded to Gedyminas Avenue where they laid flowers to the monument of communism victims, reports Belapan.
