Belarusian Helsinki Committee files claim to CEC demanding to abolish election results

The Belarusian Helsinki Committee has filed a complaint to the Central Election Commission demanding to abolish the presidential election results on December 22 in the evening. The BHC lawyer Harry Pahaniaila has informed BelaPAN about this. According to the Belarusian legislation, only the presidential candidates can claim the election results themselves. "However, the CEC has accepted our complaint and will consider it one way or another. This can turn the attention to non-democratic election in Belarus", — said Harry Pahaniaila.

He noted that they had collected the facts of numerous violations of the electoral legislation during the presidential election, which influenced the election results all over the country, in their complaint.

"The BHC observers have recorded violations starting from election commissions' formation ending with counting of votes at the poliing stations,"- said the BHC representative.
