Belaya Vezha National Park refutes bizon hunt reports
A herd of bizons has been kept in the Belaya Vezha National Park. The 30,000-ha rancho is reportedly cordoned off by a 2m-high metal fence.
A permit for hunting bizons costs Euro 2000-8000, depending on the length of horns and other features. A bizon's head and skin could also be sold to a client at an extra charge, reports BulletinOnline.org citing the management of the National Park.
The European Radio for Belarus reached on the phone Dzmitry Byarnadski, the National Park's scientific director. He said that this could not be possible in the Belavezhskaya Puscha.
“This is nonsense. I can't be thia way! Perhaps, it is possibe somewhere else in Belarus but not here! Killing bizons is under rigid government's control in Belarus. It is simply unacceptable in Belarus. Definitely, it cannot be associated with bizons”.
