Estonian Embassy officially starts presenting Sweden's interests in Belarus
This concerns visa issues and is prescribed by the agreement made by the governments of Sweden and Estonia.
The Swedish Embassy stopped accepting
documents for visa issuance to the Belarusian citizens on August 17. The
Estonian Embassy will issue Swedish visas starting from August 21, informs BelaPAN.
Besides, the
Belarusian Embassy in Sweden stops accepting documents for visa issuance today.
The functions of the Belarusian Embassy in Sweden will be performed by an
Embassy of some other country.
The reason for
sharpening of the relations between Belarus and Sweden was the decision of the
Belarusian side not to renew accreditation of Swedish Ambassador to Belarus Stefan
Eriksson. Sweden considered this decision politically motivated and
stated that the new Belarusian Ambassador was unwelcomed, and exiled two more
Belarusian diplomats out of the country.
