Uladzіmіr Makei: Belarus made historic choice in favour of sovereignty

The head of the Belarusian President’s Administration Uladzimir Makei has made a speech during an international scientific conference “Belarus: stages of state organization formation”. He has stressed that Belarus made a historic choice in favour of independence after the collapse of the Soviet Union. According to the high-ranking official, the collapse of the Soviet Union presented a lot of alternatives. However, the realization of many of them would have resulted in the loss of sovereignty and Belarus could simply disappear from the political map.

Uladzimir Makei has claimed that the country is characterized by strong government, categorical social assistance and the support of the people’s collective mind.
