UN Secretary-General urges Belarusian authorities to release political prisoners

Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon has urged the Belarusian authorities “to respect democratic principles” and “human rights”. He also spoke in support of the necessity to release political prisoners and civil activists jailed in Belarusian prisons.
According to BelaPAN, the UN Secretary-General was worried about the fact that Belarus continued persecuting “political opponents”.
