"Znamya Yunosti"'s ex-correspondent to stand trial today

The first court hearing on the case of the state newspaper "Znamya Yunosti"'s former correspondent Ales Liauchuk will take place today in the Maskouski court of Brest, informs Radio Liberty.

The newspaper's editor's office demands that a criminal case should be started against Liauchuk.

The journalist found this out during an interrogation in the police department on January 15. The investigators showed him the documents according to which the editor's office considers that the ex-correspondent should be subjected to responsibility for the slander.

Let us remind you, Liaukovich told about his discharge and the working conditions in the state newspaper at the Radio Liberty's web-site and in his blog. "The editor's office considered that I had damaged their business reputation and sued me, demanding I should refute what I had said before and cover the court expenses", — said Liauchuk.
