13:16 European women to live longer

The life span in all of 27 member countries of the European Union will exceed 80 years by 2050, reports the Eurostat, Europe's statistics agency.  In 2005, women in the EU lived an average of 81,5 against 75,4 among men.


The biggest gap – 12 years – was observed in Lithuania and Latvia; the least gap - 4 years - was reported in Britain, the Netherlands, Sweden and Malta.


The French women will live the longest: 89.1 years, while Italian women will live for 88.8 years. Women in Belgium will survive till 88,3 years old by 2050, according to the report.
