The 17th anniversary of Soviet special police troops’ assault of Vilnius TV tower is celebrated in Lithuania today.
Let us remind you that Soviet department of tanks and armoured cars seized Lithuanian TV and radio on January 13, 1991. The mass media were protecting dozens of thousands inhabitants of the country including a group of Belarusians. 14 people died and hundreds of people were injured in the assault.
A solemn meeting of the Parliament and a service will be dated for the Day of Defenders.
