30 patients evacuated from Vitsebsk hospital because of fire
The fire started at the second floor of the Vitsebsk clinical hospital neurology unit. There were no patients at that moment because of repair works in the building. The incident occurred on November 4 in the evening.
The reason for inflammation is said to be careless handling of fire while smoking. The rescuers say the second and the third floors were smoke-filled. The guilty have not been found yet. The rescuers evacuated 30 patients, including those in a critical condition, through the corridor in the opposite direction to another block. This was said to Euroradio by the Press-Secretary of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Vital Navitski.
Navitski: “Medical workers and rescuers evacuated 30 patients. 4 of them were in critical condition and 6 - in the state of moderate severity. The fire was extinguished for 16 minutes. There were no casualties”.
According to Navitski, only the window-frames which were kept at the second floor of the building under repair were damaged.
