Action “Day without cars” takes place in Belarus

An action “Day without cars” is taking place in Belarus today. Inhabitants of our country have been urged to avoid using personal transport and switch to public transport or ride bicycles today.
According to BelTA, there are 3 million 200 thousand cars and motorcycles in the country today and the number keeps increasing by 3 or 4% every year. 1.2 million tons of pollutants were emitted to the atmosphere last year.

By the way, the first action “day without cars” took place in Belarus last year. Thanks to it, the number of pollutants emitted to the air decreased by 400 tons on that day.
