Activist of Union of Poles Ihar Bantsar goes on hunger strike in connection with arrest

The press secretary of the unofficial Union of Poles in Belarus Ihar Bantsar has been sentenced to five days of detention. As BelaPAN notes, he has gone on a hunger strike to express his disagreement with the court’s decision. As of February 15, Lenin District Court of Hrodna announced Bantsar guilty of organization of an unauthorized meeting in Hrodna on February 10. The action was organized in support of Ivyanets affiliate of the UPB headed by Teresa Sobal.
